Florida suffered a hit to its 2020 recruiting class with a decommitment from Miami offensive lineman Jovens Janvier.

Janvier, who committed to the Gators in June but didn’t sign in the Early Signing Period, is a 3-star prospect from Miami Christian School, and listed at 6-foot-3 and 350 pounds. He has a reported 11 offers, and reportedly previously picked Florida over Louisville. Janvier made the announcement on Twitter.

“First and foremost I would like to thank God for making the man I have became,” Janvier tweeted. “I want to thank the Florida coaching staff and fans but with that said I would like to de-commit from form the University of Florida. It’s all love. I will be reopening my recruitment.”

He’s listed as the No. 175 player in the state of Florida, and the No. 84 offensive guard in this class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Swamp247 reported that Janvier was offered by Jim McElwain and his former Florida coaching staff. However, Janvier remained in contact with Dan Mullen and his new coaching staff upon their arrival. Janvier made a handful of visits to Florida over the span of the last two years. He finally gave the staff his verbal commitment in June following a camp session with offensive line coach John Hevesy.
