John Rhys Plumlee committed to Matt Luke as head coach and Rich Rodriguez as offensive coordinator, but he appears to be excited to play for Lane Kiffin.

The Ole Miss baseball team hosted a media opportunity on Friday, but in the case of Plumlee, it was obvious that football were also going to be asked. Ben Garrett shared some of Plumlee’s comments on Kiffin.

“Excited. Most definitely excited,” Plumlee told reporters when asked about the new head football coach. “I’ve gotten to talk to him a lot now, just being over there. He’s a great guy. He’s fired up and we’re fired up about it, too.”

Former UCF offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jeff Lebby will be the offensive coordinator on Kiffin’s Ole Miss staff. How Plumlee and fellow Rebels QB Matt Corral fit into Lebby’s system figure to be one of the bigger spring storylines in Oxford.

As a freshman, Plumlee logged more rushes attempts (154) than passing attempts (150). The Hattiesburg native was 79-of-150 passing for 910 yards with 4 touchdowns while rushing for 1,023 yards and 12 touchdowns.
