Arkansas has had some of the worst special teams units in the country in recent seasons but that is expected to change immediately under Sam Pittman as the Razorback coach went out and hired away special teams coordinator Scott Fountain from Georgia to take over the same responsibilities on The Hill.
Fountain comes to Arkansas with an outstanding track record of success coaching up his special teams units but in order for the Razorbacks to really turn the corner in the third phase of the game, Arkansas is going to need the necessary players to excel on the field.
While landing a graduate transfer with extensive special teams experience may not be a high priority for some programs, that’s not the case at Arkansas as the Razorbacks are set to host Oklahoma graduate transfer linebacker Levi Draper this weekend. News of Draper’s visit to Arkansas was first reported by Richard Davenport of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Draper, an Oklahoma native, redshirted his first season with the Sooner before playing in 28 games during his two seasons on the field in Norman. While he would likely be given an opportunity to see the field on defense for Barry Odom, adding a player with as much special teams experience as Draper possesses could be huge for Fountain’s unit next fall.
A product of Collinsville High School, Draper was a four-star recruit and played in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Game.
