Defensive Line U: Former Mizzou standout Jacquies Smith records first sack of XFL 2020 season

No one knows yet if the new XFL is here to stay, but whether the 2.0 version of the league runs into the same issues as the failed Alliance of American Football or becomes a spring football fixture, Jacquies Smith has some bragging rights.
The former Mizzou standout was the first player in the new XFL to record a sack. Twitter user @houtz recorded and shared a video of the play on the social media platform:

Like many players in XFL 2.0, Smith is an NFL veteran looking to get back into the league. Smith began his NFL journey with the Miami Dolphins in 2012, but was cut before the start of the season. He briefly joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League in October 2012, but left for an opportunity on the New York Jets practice squad in December 2012. Of the many NFL teams Smith signed with at various points in his career, Tampa Bay is where he played the longest from 2014-17. After the Buccaneers released Smith in October 2017, he bounced around from Detroit to Arizona to Oakland in 2017-18. Smith was not on an NFL team in 2019.
The Seattle Dragons selected Smith in the 2020 XFL Draft. The Dragons lost to the DC Defenders 31-19.
