An LSU analyst is reportedly joining former Tigers assistant coach Joe Brady at Carolina.

Joe Person of The Athletic reported this week that the Panthers have hired DJ Mangas as an offensive assistant. The news won’t come as a shock to Tigers fans in the know. When the Brady-to-Carolina news broke in January, Mangas was mentioned as an LSU staffer who could join Brady on the Panthers staff.

As was mentioned in January, when Brady joined the LSU staff as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator ahead of the 2019 season, he was told he could bring in one staffer and chose Mangas. The two are former William & Mary teammates, crossing paths as Tribe wide receivers from 2009-11 with Mangas playing from 2008-11 and Brady from 2009-12.

Brady, 30, has climbed the coaching ladder at an incredible pace. In 2013, he got into coaching as William & Mary’s linebackers coach. Now, less than 10 years later, he will be an offensive coordinator in the NFL. It will be interesting to see if Mangas, who was the offensive coordinator at his alma mater before reuniting with Brady at LSU, follows in his former teammate’s footsteps.
