Johnny Juzang arrived in Lexington as one of the top prospects in the nation in the 2019 recruiting cycle but the big man from Los Angeles had decided that one year with Kentucky is all that’s in the cards for him.

Following a freshman season that saw Juzang appear in 28 games and average 2.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists, the California native plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

He announced his decision on Friday with the following statement:

“What a ride. This last year at Kentucky was one of the best experiences of my life. I grew so much not only a player, but as a young man as well. I’d like to thank all my coaches, my brothers, the trainers, the staff, BBN, and everyone who made this year so special. From the bottom of my heart, I’m going to miss this place. With lots of thought and consideration, I’ve decided to put my name into the transfer portal.”

Juzang signed with Kentucky over Kansas, Oregon and Virginia. At this time, the freshman has not publicly announced which school he plans on attending next year. He was a four-star recruit, the No. 33 overall recruit and the No. 9 small forward in the 2019 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
