On a night of celebration for football fans, there is some tragic news to pass along. Jace Prescott, older brother of Dak Prescott, has passed away. Jace was an offensive lineman at Haughton (Louisiana) High School and Northwestern State University.

The Shreveport Times broke the news, reporting Jace passed Thursday morning. Northwestern State media relations confirmed Jace’s passing to The Times.

“He was a great kid who dominated games,” Prescott’s high school football coach, Rodney Guin told The Times. “He was a pleasure to coach — as were all the Prescott boys.”

As a high school football player, Jace earned honorable mention on the LHSAA’s 2006 Class 4A All-State football team and was a First-Team Times’ 2006 All-City Football selection. In 2007, he was named to the All-City Track team in the shot put.

Last year, Jace Prescott was featured alongside brothers Dak and Tad in Campbell’s “Champions of Chunky” commercials.

The Dallas Cowboys released a statement Thursday night:

“It is with great sadness and support that we share the news of the passing of Jace Prescott today. The loss of Tad and Dak’s brother is devastating. At this incredibly difficult time, the Prescott family asks only for prayers and respect for their privacy.”

Jace, the middle of the three Prescott brothers, was 31.
