ESPN’s “The Last Dance” 10-part documentary on Michael Jordan has been must-see-TV during a quiet spring for sports due to the coronavirus pandemic. You can count Nick Saban among those tuning in on Sunday nights to watch Jordan and company look back on his time with the Chicago Bulls.

Ahead of Monday’s running of 247Sports Social Distance interview with Saban, Riley Gates has transcribed a snippet of the interview. When asked about “The Last Dance,” Saban shared that he related to one of the show’s more powerful moments: Jordan getting emotional talking about his competitive spirit and possibly rubbing teammates the wrong way.

“I really think the last three minutes of (episode 7) was something I could really relate to, that we could really relate to,” Saban said. “…When they referred to him as, ‘Some of your teammates think you might be a tyrant,’ he paused and actually almost got tears in his eyes when he said, ‘There’s a price to pay for winning. There’s a price to pay for being a leader.’ You have to push people to get them to do things they might not want to do, make them uncomfortable.”

It’s safe to assume Saban will be one of the millions of sports fans tuning in for the final two episodes of “The Last Dance” on Sunday night.
