After three seasons at Alabama, wide receiver Chadarius Townsend is reportedly considering playing elsewhere.

AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported Tuesday that Townsend has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Entering the portal does not mean a player must transfer out but allows them to be contacted and recruited by other programs.

Townsend committed to Alabama back in July of 2015 and signed as part of the 2017 recruiting class. The Tanner, Alabama product was rated a 4-star ATH. Townsend redshirted his first season on campus in Tuscaloosa. As a redshirt freshman in 2018, he appeared in 12 games on special teams. Last season, he saw action again on special teams (5 games) and offense. He recorded 2 rushes in the win over Southern Miss and logged 6 carries for 24 yards against Western Carolina. The current roster lists him as a wide receiver.

While many staffs have changed since Townsend was last a recruit, his Crimson Tide online bio notes he chose Alabama over Auburn, Florida, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

Townsend is the third Crimson Tide player to reportedly enter the transfer portal this month following redshirt junior linebacker Markail Benton (June 3) and fellow redshirt junior WR Tyrell Shavers (June 2).
