LSU basketball associate head coach Greg Heiar has left the program after 3 seasons, according to a report by 247Sports.com. Heiar retweeted the story on his personal Twitter page, which seemed to confirm the news.

“We were grateful for the opportunity here at LSU. We definitely loved the people, the players, the university, the fans, the city of Baton Rouge,” Heiar said, via 247Sports. “My family, Jess and I really appreciated the opportunity to help build a winning and championship basketball program while we were here.

“The best accomplishment though was when my daughter, Alexis, graduated from U-High of being here and moving on to her dream school at the University of Iowa. Obviously, we went to the Sweet 16 and were SEC Champs, but that means the world to me just because of the school system and the family aspect of moving here.

“We accomplished really good things here as a staff and together as a group. Obviously, having my daughter graduate from high school and the family side of it was tremendous as well.

“We had an unbelievable experience and we will be forever grateful to be a Tiger. Like Coach O says, ‘Geaux Tigers!'”

Heiar coached under Will Wade for 2 seasons, and he’s a major part of the program’s transformation and return to power under the current regime. Heiar helped LSU land the nation’s No. 4 recruiting class in 2019 by signing Javonte Smart, Marlon Taylor, Emmitt Williams and Darius Days.

Prior to coming to LSU in 2017, Heiar coached at Wichita State.
