Missouri reached into Indiana again on Saturday to land a commitment from Kyran Montgomery, a defensive end out of Indianapolis (Pike).

Montgomery is the 19th commitment for the Tigers in the 2021 class, which ranks ninth in the SEC and 30th in the country. He is 6-foot-4 and 251 pounds.

He is the No. 31 weakside defensive end in this class, and the No. 6 player in Indiana. He had a reported 23 offers, including several from Big Ten schools. The Indianapolis Star reported Montgomery said he “has been focused on those two schools” in reference to Minnesota and Missouri, but other programs have remained in contact. He has offers from Indiana, Purdue, Florida State, Arizona State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Penn State, Washington State and West Virginia, among others.

The Tigers have another commitment from the Hoosier state, in Ben Davis cornerback Daylan Carnell the No. 7 in-state recruit on the 247Sports Composite.

Montgomery, who had 22 tackles for loss last season, said the recruiting process has not gone liked he had hoped in terms of making visits, according to the Star.

“It’s been kind of awkward,” he said. “I’ve been trying to fill in some gaps. You want to come and see where you fit in walking on to campus and feel if you are wanted or not. Because not every school that contacts you is a fit. You definitely have to fill in some gaps and go where your heart is.”

Montgomery had shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in February and said he is “about 90 percent” back to full strength.
