Henry Ruggs is only two games into his NFL career, but the Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver is already going to miss his first contest.

On Friday, the Raiders ruled out Ruggs for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. The former Alabama standout is currently dealing with knee and hamstring injuries, which caused him to be limited in practice on Thursday before sitting out completely on Friday.

Ruggs had four receptions for 59 yards over Las Vegas’ first two games, with three of those catches coming in its opener against the Carolina Panthers. This past Monday night, the 21-year-old rookie was limited to one 4-yard reception by the New Orleans Saints.

After getting selected by the Raiders with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Ruggs was having a quiet start even before getting slowed by these injuries. Perhaps he’ll have a larger role and break out once he returns to full strength and gets back on the field for the Raiders down the line.

Ruggs was a key part of Alabama’s offense in recent years, as he had 1,716 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns over three seasons from 2017-19.

There was another former Crimson Tide player on the Raiders’ Friday injury report, as running back Josh Jacobs was listed as questionable due to a hip injury. However, Jacobs practiced on Friday so he could be trending in the right direction toward playing on Sunday.
