Because of what he described as “unforeseen circumstances,” South Carolina lost a commitment on Sunday morning from 2021 Georgia RB Antario Brown. This is interesting timing considering that South Carolina is coming off of a win at Vanderbilt.

Brown is a 3-star prospect out of Savannah, Georgia. When he committed in early August, Brown was the 16th commitment for the Gamecocks. Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Brown at the time of his commitment was the No. 65 running back in the class of 2021 and the No. 85 overall recruit from the state of Georgia. Now, he is ranked the No. 30 running back in the class, and the No. 40 player from Georgia.

Brown is listed at 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, and reportedly committed originally to South Carolina over Virginia Tech. His four known offers are South Carolina, Virginia Tech, N.C. State and West Virginia.

The Gamecocks currently list 16 commitments, and are ranked No. 12 in the SEC, and No. 45 in the country for the Class of 2021. Their lone running back commit now is Leesburg, Georgia’s Caleb McDowell.
