What Jimbo Fisher said after Texas A&M beat Mississippi State, improved to 3-1 on the season
Texas A&M kept up its momentum with a win over Mississippi State on Saturday.
A week after a big victory against Florida, the Aggies dismantled Mississippi State to win 28-14.
RB Isaiah Spiller had 114 yards and 2 touchdowns in the victory including a score that was setup by a blocked punt.
The Aggies are off next week and return to action on Oct. 31 against Arkansas.
Here’s some of what coach Jimbo Fisher shared with the media after the game:
Jimbo Fisher postgame: “Just proud of our guys getting a win on the road in the SEC. A 14-point win is a good win…thought our defense was outstanding on the day.”

Jimbo Fisher: On the momentum swings, we scored touchdowns on both. When we got them, we took advantage of them. When they got them, we came back.

Fisher on his off week before Arkansas: “There ain’t no ‘bye week’. It’s a work week.”

Jimbo Fisher: We’re nowhere close to where we can be. Said it’s encouraging to be 3-1 with room to grow.

Jimbo Fisher on running more zone on defense: It kept leverage on the football. We missed very few tackles on the day.

Fisher on his defensive line: “Physicality up front. We got sacks with three-man pressures. We batted balls…Mike [Elko] did a great job with the gameplan.”

Jimbo Fisher on A&M’s D-line: We got sacks at times with 3-man pressures, batted balls. … We did a great job mixing things up.

FWIW, Fisher didn’t seem too concerned about Isaiah Spiller getting nicked up toward the end of the game. Says he could have come back in, but didn’t want to risk any further injury.

Fisher on the offense responding immediately after the pick six: “It was grit, it was determination, and it was a lack of panic.”

Fisher on rotating in some more backs (most notably Devon Achane): “You have to. You have to have depth, this league is so physical. They get banged and bruised back there.”
