Antonio Alfano’s college football career has not gone as planned. The 5-star defensive end had the 247Sports Composite score (0.9965) in Alabama’s 2019 recruiting class.

Things didn’t work out in Tuscaloosa for Alfano. He dealt with discipline issues in his freshman season and entered the transfer portal. In December, he signed at Colorado.

Now, out in Boulder, Alfano is dealing with a different kind of issue. CU head coach Karl Dorrell recently told reporters that Alfano was sidelined with a medical issue.

“We don’t quite have a handle on his medical situation well enough to be released to practice and to compete right now,” Dorrell said, per BuffZone.com.

Dorrell and CU could only say so much about Alfano due to medical privacy protections. BuffZone shared that Alfano reached out to the outlet to clarify his situation.

“My seizures are not under control right now, so I’m working with multiple doctors to figure out what is causing them,” he said in a message to BuffZone. “I cannot practice or compete until I’m seizure free.”

The BuffZone article notes that even if cleared to return to the practice field, Alfano would still need an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA to play in a Buffaloes game.
