Mississippi State has had several players leave the program, or enter the transfer portal, in recent days, and one of them may be RB Kylin Hill.

Coach Mike Leach shared his thoughts on those situations on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday, though it lacked some clarity. Leach was asked if he had an update on Hill’s status with the team.

“I don’t,” he said. “I heard he was opting out to prepare for the NFL. I haven’t talked to him, we wish him the best. We are focusing on the guys that are on the team.”

Why didn’t you guys hit it off?

“I didn’t say that was the case, we aren’t worried about that,” Leach said.

Leach then elaborated on players leaving the program in general.

“It’s positive from the standpoint that we have rules and expectations and if they aren’t you won’t be part of the program,” Leach said. “We want to be a program that has certain expectations and rules that are best for everybody. I’d surprised if we don’t lose more. … If you’re stunned or nervous, you better brace yourself because we might lose more.”

As the Bulldogs get set to play Alabama, Leach shared his thoughts on the Crimson Tide.

“They play together well, they play hard… I think they play really hard together,” Leach said. “It’s not just great players but a good team.”
