In his first year as Missouri’s head coach, Eli Drinkwitz said he has learned that he doesn’t have reactions that are overly emotional.

“I know I can keep my poise in certain situations,” Drinkwitz said at his Thursday press conference (h/t PowerMizzou.com).

It’s worth noting that this Drinkwitz comment came only five days after a halftime brawl between Mizzou and Florida led to Gators head coach Dan Mullen getting reprimanded and fined $25,000 for his role in the incident. Mullen ran onto the field and started screaming before the brawl started.

Now, Drinkwitz didn’t mention Florida and wasn’t specifically discussing that game. But it could have been what he was referring to, as he wasn’t involved in the incident and later expressed disappointment in how things unfolded in Gainesville.

The Tigers went on to lose to the Gators, 41-17, to fall to 2-3. Coming off a two-game winning streak, they couldn’t keep things close as Florida led, 20-7, at halftime and Missouri didn’t score again until the fourth quarter.

Missouri is on a bye this week, but Drinkwitz will look to get his team back on track when it hosts No. 5 Georgia on Nov. 14 at noon ET on ESPN.
