A Kentucky legend is joining the UK Sports Network for its radio broadcasts.

On Friday, Kentucky announced that former Wildcats star Jack “Goose” Givens will be the co-host of the pregame radio show when the men’s basketball season gets underway later this month. He’ll be working alongside Dave Baker, who will be back for his 34th season.

Kentucky Hall of Famer Rex Chapman, who previously co-hosted with Baker, will be working with JMI Sports on new media content, per the university’s announcement.

Not only will Givens be on the radio, but he’ll also be a featured guest on the television broadcasts of BBN Gameday and BBN Tonight.

“As a kid growing up in Lexington, you dreamed of winning a national championship with Cawood Ledford on the call,” Givens said in a statement. “To have experienced that was an incredible feeling. To now join the network of Cawood Ledford and share my lifelong love of Kentucky basketball with Big Blue Nation is exciting.”

Givens played at Kentucky from 1974-78, helping the Wildcats win the national championship in 1978. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four that year, scoring 41 points in the national title game against Duke.

After his college career, Givens was a first-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks in the 1978 NBA Draft, and he went on to play two seasons for the team.

Givens has previously served as an NBA analyst for Turner Broadcasting and FOX Sports.

Kentucky is set to open the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25 with a home matchup against Morehead State at Rupp Arena.
