The Baton Rouge Police Department has placed three police officers on paid administrative leave while an investigation is underway following an incident over the weekend where LSU freshman WR Koy Moore.

Moore posted Twitter on Sunday and said he was “approached by policemen” who believed he had “a gun and drugs.” Moore stated that he was “violated numerous times” and had his phone taken from him as he tried to video what was happening. Moore also said that the situation was resolved after he told them he was an LSU football player.

Coach Ed Orgeron and the Baton Rouge mayor each released statements about the incident, and Orgeron said he was aware of the situation, but couldn’t comment on it specifically.

“What I can say is we must work collectively to embrace our differences,” Orgeron said. “We have to listen, learn and come together to combat social injustice and racism if we are to create a safer and more equitable society for all people.”

Police Chief Murphy Paul said, “We appreciate Mr. Moore bringing this incident to our attention. As in every case, we will be collecting all available evidence. Accountability and transparency are critical in building trust with the community. I pledge a thorough investigation into this complaint.”
