Texas A&M’s biggest win of the season may have suffered a hit to the strength of schedule when Florida was upset by LSU in dramatic fashion on Saturday night. But it may have also opened the door to the College Football Playoff for the Aggies.

That’s the opinion of ESPN analyst Joey Galloway, who along with Jesse Palmer, updated his CFP picks following Week 12 action from the SEC. Galloway noted that Florida’s loss could have the same affect on Cincinnati, which to him is a quality team, but has been off for several weeks.

“Florida losing eliminates them, opens up the door for a Texas A&M and a Cincinnati,” Galloway said.

Added Palmer, “There’s still a lot on the line in Championship Weekend. Maybe a little bit less drama, (Matt) Barrie, but always lots of drama here on the set with us.”

Galloway and Palmer agreed that Alabama is safe, and Galloway sees Notre Dame as safe as well, because of the Fighting Irish’s wins over Clemson and North Carolina.

Palmer added that Florida’s loss also helps Ohio State because the Buckeyes’ nightmare scenario was the ACC and SEC getting two teams each in.

We’ll see how this week’s latest official picks shake out on Tuesday, and then the final rankings released next Sunday.
