In the early onset of his third season as the head coach of Georgia basketball, Tom Crean has beefed up his coaching staff.

According to a press release from Georgia, Crean has officially hired Michael Curry Sr. and Tim Dather, both coaches with significant NBA experience.

“We’re obviously very excited to add two really, really high quality basketball minds like Michael and Tim to our staff,” said Crean. “I’ve known both of them for many years, and I don’t know if I could overstate how impressed I’ve been with their knowledge of the game and desire to continue learning. They bring an amazingly high level of experience and commitment to our staff.”

After a long NBA career, Curry served as the head coach of the Detroit Pistons from 2008-2009, and most recently was the head coach at Florida Atlantic from 2014-2018.

Dather is familiar with Crean from their time together at Indiana, when Dather was a team manager for the Hoosiers with Crean as the head coach. Dather most recently worked in several different roles with the Indiana Pacers.

Georgia is off to a 7-0 start to the season, and will open up SEC play against Mississippi State on Dec. 30.
