LSU standout defensive end Ali Gaye is coming back to college for another season.

Gaye announced that decision on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

That’s a big deal for the Tigers, who are looking for any and all momentum heading into next season.

Gaye’s first season with the Tigers in 2020 was tremendous. He recorded 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and six pass deflections. His 9.5 tackles for loss led the team this season.

He came to LSU via Garden City Community College. Gaye was the No. 19 overall JUCO prospect in the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Gaye figures to be a major component of LSU’s defense in 2021. The scheme will likely look a bit different after the Tigers parted ways with defensive coordinator Bo Pelini.

LSU is not playing in a bowl game this season after dishing out a self-imposed bowl ban earlier this month.
