If you were unaware, Tennessee has got one of the best baseball teams in the country this season as the Vols are currently ranked No. 6 in the nation in the latest USA Today coaches poll.

The team’s rise in the poll comes after Tennessee had a big weekend at home, sweeping Paul Mainieri’s LSU program.

The Vols beat the Tigers 3-1 on Friday, 9-8 on Saturday and 3-2 on Sunday which represents just the second sweep ever of LSU for the Tennessee baseball program.

Tennessee is currently 22-4 on the season and is on a six-game winning streak.

The SEC Network shared some highlights of the Tennessee-LSU series after the conclusion of the games.

During a recent appearance on ESPN Baton Rouge 104.5 FM radio program Off The Bench, Mainieri called out Tennessee’s fans and even Tony Vitello’s players.

The LSU coach admitted he could tell the Tennessee crowd affected at least one of his players.

“It was an extremely hostile environment. Nasty fans, nasty. They were into Tre’ Morgan’s head,” Mainieri said on the show. “I mean, they were on him from the moment he walked out on that field. It was a difficult situation.

“The umpires, there were a lot of calls that went against us and they were having to deal with that. The other team was not handling things with a lot of class, quite frankly. It was an environment that those kids were in for the very first time and it was very difficult.”
