There’s a noticeable Alabama presence on the Las Vegas Raiders roster this year. Former Crimson Tide standouts Josh Jacobs and Henry Ruggs III return to the team that has added Alex Leatherwood (NFL Draft) and Kenyan Drake (free-agent signing).

In his most recent press conference, Jacobs was asked about the Raiders adding familiar faces from Tuscaloosa.

“I was just happy that he got drafted here,” Jacobs said of Leatherwood. “Just to hear his mentality coming in is what kind of impressed me. We had a couple of hour-long talks before he got drafted about what he wanted to do and how he wanted to present himself and the task he put on himself.

“I’m interested to see how he lives up to his expectations.”

Jacobs revealed he had an active role in getting Drake to Las Vegas. Though Drake was in the NFL by the time Jacobs started his freshman season at UA in 2016, the two are close.

“I was fighting for the dude to get him over here when I found out that Book (Devontae Booker) was leaving,” Josh Jacobs said of Drake. “I’ve been knowing Kenyan forever, since our Alabama days, he used to come back and train with me all the time. His game speaks for itself. He’s very versatile, he can play in the slot, is very good in open space, and take the top off. He’s going to be a great addition.”

It will be interesting to see how the Raiders offense looks this year with a growing Alabama presence.
