Great news for Arkansas baseball fans as national player of the year Kevin Kopps has been selected in the 2021 MLB Draft.

The reigning Dick Howser Trophy award winner was just selected with the No. 99 overall selection in the draft by the San Diego Padres.

Kopps is the first-ever relief pitcher to win the Dick Howser Trophy. He was also named SEC Pitcher of the Year and was selected as a First-Team All-American.

Last season, Kopps had an ERA of 0.90 and 0.76 WHIP in a team-high 89 2/3 innings. Hitters only managed a .162 average on Kopps this season.

Now he’ll be pitching for a major league organization in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Not a bad year for Kopps.
