Another Tennessee veteran has reportedly decided to end his football career.

Mike Wilson of the Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting Volunteers offensive lineman Riley Locklear has ended his football career due to injures.

Locklear told Knox News he is looking to start his career in sales or business and plans to remain in Knoxville.

In four years at UT, Locklear played in 24 games, starting four. He missed the 2020 season due to injury but was planning to take advantage of the NCAA’s extra year of eligibility and play this fall.

The Knox News article notes that Locklear graduated in May with a degree in kinesiology.

The Locklear news follows tight end’s Austin Pope decision to medically retire. From a numbers standpoint, these are tough blows to Josh Heupel’s roster, which was already hit hard this offseason with departures to the transfer portal.
