Former Missouri star Nick Bolton is not wasting any time making a good first impression at Kansas City Chiefs camp. That includes an interception of superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Bolton stepped in front of a short pass from Mahomes, and returned it the distance during a 7-on-7 drill on Monday.

Bolton is entering his rookie season with the Chiefs and was a second-round pick (58th overall) by the Chiefs in the spring NFL Draft. Bolton recently shared his experience as a rookie with Arrowhead Addict.

โ€œI just know the expectation for me is to build trust and that comes with repetition and doing things perfectly all the time,” he said. “So thatโ€™s the kind of expectation I have for myself. I just want to go out there and execute every single day and give him confidence and that gives myself confidence as well.โ€

Bolton has said the entire linebacking corps has reached out to help him, and his focus is on the playbook.

โ€œJust digesting that and building confidence in that,” Bolton said. “Thatโ€™s what I gained in OTAs and thatโ€™s what I hope to build on. I feel I had a good foundation throughout OTAs of learning the playbook, communication, the kind of intangible things that you donโ€™t get by reading the playbook and being out there with the guys.โ€
