Fans, media react to news that LSU QB Myles Brennan will need surgery, miss significant time
LSU received some devastating news on Monday night as the program announced that potential starting quarterback Myles Brennan has suffered an injury that will require surgery.
“His timeline is yet to be determined,” Coach Ed Orgeron said in a statement. “Myles has done everything we have asked of him this summer and was in the fight to be the starting quarterback at LSU.”
Last season, Brennan completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
He was expected to compete with sophomore Max Johnson for the starting job during fall camp. Last season, Johnson completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 1,069 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception.
Johnson will likely be the starter now as LSU tries to rebound from a disappointing 2020 campaign.
According to The Athletic’s Brody Miller, Brennan broke the humerus bone in his left arm and will get surgery on Tuesday.
Here’s some of the reaction to the news from fans and media:
I really hope the Baton Rouge business community steps up and makes Myles Brennan their spokesman for literally everything. This kid deserves to get paid.

This sucks for Brennan, who was really good when healthy last year. It also might change the outlook for LSU’s season. Then again, Max Johnson looked very capable towards the end of 2020. https://t.co/046ClfQRdw
