Reports: Kentucky freshman WR, 4-star recruit injured in practice

Kentucky freshman receiver Dekel Crowdus suffered a potentially serious injury in practice today, according to multiple reports.

It’s currently unclear how severe the injury is, but both KSR’s Matt Jones and Rivals’ Justin Rowland reported the news.

Crowdus was the No. 300 overall player and the No. 49 receiver in the country for the class of 2021, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He was expected to have a chance at early playing time in Lexington.

Crowdus was also the No. 3 overall player from Kentucky in the class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He attended Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington. The Wildcats beat out programs such as Auburn, Baylor and Florida State for his signature.

Kentucky has already had multiple players suffer longterm injuries this offseason, including receiver Clevan Thomas and linebacker D’Eryk Jackson.

The Wildcats open their 2021 campaign against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 4.
