It’s never too early to start looking for quarterbacks of the future. And in this case, way in the future.

Julian Lewis is an eighth grader who won’t be sitting in a college class until 2026, but he’s already received his first offer from a top football program. On Wednesday, Lewis announced on Twitter that he has gotten an offer from Florida to come play for the Gators.

Lewis is from Carrollton, Ga., but perhaps he’ll be coming to Gainesville in the future. He has plenty of time to decide, though, and there will likely be more offers coming his way.

Still, it could be important that Florida got an early start by expressing its interest in Lewis now.

“It’s unreal,” Lewis told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.com. “So much excitement right now. I’m enjoying it.”

According to Wiltfong, Lewis will be attending Saturday’s game between Florida and Alabama at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. What better way for the No. 11 Gators to impress recruits than by knocking off the No. 1 team in the country?

So while Florida continues to split playing time at QB between redshirt junior Emory Jones and redshirt freshman Anthony Richardson, perhaps a future Gators quarterback will be watching from the stands.
