Arkansas delivers upset as fans, media praise Sam Pittman, criticize Jimbo Fisher
Arkansas continues to impress, and now the Razorbacks have added Texas A&M to the teams they’ve knocked off in convincing fashion, 20-10.
Plenty of Texas A&M fans pointed criticism directly to Jimbo Fisher, mainly because Arkansas was the underdog in the game, and the Aggies had higher expectations coming into the season. As criticism was directed toward Fisher, plenty of praise went for Sam Pittman, who has successfully turned around Arkansas in lightning quick fashion.
It snapped Texas A&M’s 11-game winning streak which dated back to last season is its longest since 12 in a row under coach R.C. Slocum in 1992. The Aggies had won the previous 9 games against Arkansas, all of those coming since they became SEC foes in 2012. Arkansas hasn’t started 4-0 since 2003. It’s also a big jump for the Arkansas program, which last had a chance to get to 4-0 in 2016, when in their fourth game the Razorbacks lost 45-21 to Texas A&M the last time they met with both ranked.
Now the Razorbacks turn their attention to a huge noon game next week at No. 2 Georgia in the latest test on the Razorbacks’ difficult schedule.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction:
The power of coaching and culture that’s what @RazorbackFB is one hell of a job by Sam Pittman

Arkansas doing a 3 man rush and Texas a&m can’t stop it

Better team and better coached team won today. Congrats to Arkansas! Jimbo should be embarrassed. Calzada has been here for three year and looks like that. Really disappointing

Jimbo is going to have to explain this loss, because Arkansas was supposed to be the underdog

Jimbo punting away any realistic chance to win the game without a catastrophic Arkansas mistake was a choice.

Worst Power 5 team in nation in 2018 & 2019. Fourteen games later Sam Pittman has them 1 win away from the Top 10. It only takes 1 person to completely change everything for the better or for the worse. Just one. https://t.co/5EuuwIR4yg

THE HELL WITH IT. I am forming a Sam Pittman for Governor committee . I will start the fundraising in October . Move the Governor’s office to Fayetteville. He can govern there and coach the team

I feel like what Sam Pittman has done at Arkansas is not talked about enough. Talk about resurrecting a program from the dead

Arkansas and Sam Pittman are impossible not to root for
