A week removed from looking somewhat pedestrian in a 31-29 win at Florida, No. 1 Alabama was back to its dominating ways Saturday night, easily dispatching of Southern Mississippi, 63-14.

The victory sets up a huge SEC showdown next Saturday, as the 4-0 Crimson Tide will play host to unbeaten and 13th-ranked Ole Miss.

Against the Golden Eagles, it was the Bryce Young show for much of the night.

The sophomore quarterback completed 20-of-22 passes for 312 yards and 5 touchdowns. The only downside for Young was a 3rd-quarter interception, the first pick of his career.

Junior wide receiver Jameson Williams also had a huge night for Alabama, as he caught an 81-yard TD pass from Young while also returning 2 kickoffs for touchdowns, 100 yards to open the game and 83 yards early in the 4th quarter.

Roydell Williams and Jase McClellan, meanwhile, combined to rush for more than 200 yards for Alabama, and embattled tight end Jahleel Billingsley had his best game of the season, catching 5 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Also of note for Alabama, the win was the program’s 100th consecutive against an unranked opponent, which no other Division I program has accomplished in the AP Poll era.

Additionally, the Crimson Tide surpassed 30 points for the 30th consecutive game, one shy of UCF’s record, which came during the 2017-19 seasons.

Alabama’s matchup with the Rebels next Saturday is set to kickoff at 3:30 p.m. EST and will air on CBS.
