Missouri’s defense hasn’t been everything that fans of the Tigers have expected going into the year so far.

The Tigers have allowed 1,809 total yards of offense through four games, and have the worst rushing defense in the SEC as well.

One of the players that was supposed to be a key factor on the rushing defense is junior defensive lineman Trajan Jeffcoat, who has 9 total tackles and a sack on the year so far.

Jeffcoat was named as a second-team All-SEC defensive lineman going into the season.

While acknowledging that the defense hasn’t been at its best, Drinkwitz emphasized during his Tuesday press conference that he still has a lot of faith in Jeffcoat and that his defense will turn things around:

“I think Trajan’s working really hard to put himself in the best position he possibly can,” Drinkwitz said. “Obviously when you have preseason accolades, you’re going to have more attention put on you as a player. … I’ve got a lot of confidence in Trajan and know his time’s coming if he’ll continue to put in the work.”

We’ll see if Jeffcoat’s production does indeed tick up as the season progresses.
