One of the breakout stars for Missouri this season has been RB Tyler Badie, and his ability to produce in multiple situations. Coach Eli Drinkwitz discussed Badie on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday.

“Versatility. He has versatility in what schemes he can run,” Drinkwitz said. “… He has the ability to pick up pressures and then getting out and running routes.”

On the flip side, one of the more troubling issues for the Tigers this season is run defense, and Drinkwitz explained how the team is working to fix it.

“We obviously have some things we have to do to fix it,” he said. “It’s a combination of a lot of things. … We’ve got to do a better job of tackling and taking the proper angles. And we have to do a better job of defeating blocks. … We’re working hard to rectify those.”

Drinkwitz also discussed that defense in light of playing Tennessee this week.

“Getting set, getting lined up and making sure everybody’s on the same page — 11 acting as 1. … You have to get adjusted very quickly,” he said. “… How do you make sure you can get all that communicated across the board and still play?”
