Shane Beamer knows Parker White is one of the best kickers in the country, and he has the numbers to back it up.

White has connected on 13-of-14 field goal attempts this season, which is tied with Missouri’s Harrison Mevis at the top of the SEC. However, that leaves him at No. 24 in the country in field goals made. But what got Beamer fired up is White was not named a semifinalists for the Groza Award given to the top kicker in the country.

“It is a complete joke that he is not a semifinalist for the Groza Award,” Beamer said on his Sunday night media teleconference, per David Cloninger. “That is a tragedy. They clearly don’t know much or watch much college football to not have Parker White as a semifinalist. It is comical and laughable.”

Beamer often speaks in a spirited manner, and this was the type of topic that gets him fired up.

“I don’t know that there is a better kicker in the country. I think that is a joke that he’s not a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. That is a travesty,” he said, per Ben Portnoy.

White is a fan favorite with the Gamecocks faithful, and entered this season as a four-year returning starter, the first in school history.
