Football teams never want to overlook their next opponent, even if it looks like a substantial mismatch on paper. Nick Saban is clearly making sure that Alabama won’t be doing that.

The No. 2 Crimson Tide are overwhelming favorites for this Saturday’s home matchup against New Mexico State. It’s likely that Alabama is going to roll to a big victory, considering it’s among the best teams in the country, while New Mexico State is 1-8.

However, that didn’t stop Saban from complimenting the Aggies when speaking to the media Monday.

“I think New Mexico State is a dangerous team because they’re one of these teams that is going to pass the ball,” Saban told reporters, including AL.com’s Mike Rodak. “They’re one of the top 25 passing teams in the country.”

Saban’s stat is accurate. The Aggies rank 23rd in the nation with 278.4 passing yards per game. However, that hasn’t led to positive results for New Mexico State, which has lost 5 games in a row. Its lone win of the season is a 43-35 victory against South Carolina State on Sept. 18.

New Mexico State also hasn’t been going up against teams like Alabama. It will face a much greater challenge in trying to move the ball through the air while going up against the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will look to improve to 9-1 when it hosts New Mexico State on Saturday at noon ET on SEC Network.
