Alabama’s 2022 recruiting class grew on Tuesday. According to a report from BamaInsider.com, the Tide secured a commitment from 3-star defensive lineman Isaiah Hastings.

Originally from Canada, Hastings finished out his high school career in Florida at Clearwater Academy International. Hastings lost his junior season to COVID-19 restrictions in Canada and was looking at also losing his senior season before deciding on the move. Next fall, he’ll be in Tuscaloosa.

A native of Toronto, Hastings chose Alabama over Florida, Michigan, and Oregon among others. He held offers from SEC schools in Missouri and Georgia as well.

Hastings is the 63rd-ranked defensive line prospect in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and No. 421 overall for the cycle. He ranks as the 55th overall prospect in the state of Florida.

At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, Hastings possesses length and athleticism. Hastings “has the potential to emerge as a difference-maker at the Power 5 level given how he moves for someone (his size),” wrote 247Sports analyst Andrew Ivins. He also added that Hastings has developed a few counters but has the strength to win with a simple bull rush.

He becomes the 19th known commitment for Alabama this cycle and joins a class that ranks as the top overall unit for the 2022 cycle.
