MarShawn Lloyd and South Carolina produced one of the biggest upsets in college football this season by dismantling Florida on Saturday, 40-17.

Coach Shane Beamer has said it was a game of winning one-on-one battles, and the Gamecocks certainly did that across the board. Lloyd on Tuesday told reporters that he didn’t have a knee brace on his surgically repaired knee against the Gators, and therefore felt “a ton of confidence taking it off” as he could cut and move a bit better than before.

The Florida game also proved what the Gamecocks thought they knew before. The Gamecocks rushed for 284 yards on a 6.8 yards-per-carry average. Lloyd had 7 carries for 46 yards.

“All along we knew we were a team that could run…Being able to play a good team like Florida and do what we did felt great,” he said, per Ben Portnoy. “We just went out there and took the other man’s will. That’s what we had to do and what we have to do the rest of the year.”
