Building a championship team takes talent and depth in all areas, and the best way to describe that is complementary football, and an example of that is found at Georgia.

Between the Florida game and all of those defensive turnovers and scoring plays, and how the offense has tailored itself around the defensive dominance, coach Kirby Smart understands what it means for each unit to contribute to the overall success.

“I think complementary football is really important … Our defense has set up scores for our offense and our offense has been explosive when we’ve needed it,” Smart said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “… I think complementary football is really important. I don’t think you can lean one way or the other. You have to be good in all 3 phases.”
