Shane Beamer, the 2021 football team and newcomers for the 2022 season will be recognized for the season, and their performance in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl win over North Carolina.

The program announced that the Gamecocks will be recognized at halftime of the men’s basketball against Florida game this Saturday, January 15. The game will tip at 1 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia and will be on the SEC Network.

Coach Shane Beamer is expected to address the crowd during the intermission, and will likely have a comment or two about getting a mayo bucket over his head in the post-game celebration.

Led by Dakereon Joyner and Jaheim Bell, and a little bit of Zeb Noland, the Gamecocks handled North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, 35-21. And Kevin Harris, who was expected to get the bulk of the carries since Zaquandre White elected to opt out, had his best game of the season.

Bell had 5 catches for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns for South Carolina (7-6), which rebounded from a tough loss, 30-0, to Clemson in its regular-season finale on Nov. 27. Harris added 169 yards rushing and a score.

South Carolina rushed for 301 yards, and Joyner, who was named the game’s most valuable player, finished 9-of-9 passing for 160 yards and also ran for 64 yards.
