Zakai Zeigler now knows the power of the Vol Nation, and SEC fans in general following a wildly successful fundraiser to support his family following a house fire.

“At first I refreshed it like 2 or 3 times, and then I just let it sit and somebody was like, ‘Have you seen it?,'” he said. “And I was like, ‘No.’ I looked back, I was like, what the, it’s at the goal already, and he was like, ‘Yeah, I told you.’ I was not expecting it to be like that. My eyes just lit up.”

A GoFundMe was set up to raise money to help the Zeigler family, and its initial goal of $50,000 was met within an hour. The total eventually reached more than $350,000 before the fundraiser was disabled.

“It meant everything. It blew me and my family away. It’s nothing but great words for Vol Nation,” he said via GoVols247. “… It’s just a really good feeling. We’re just currently looking at our next step. But it’s just a good feeling. Staying blessed and feeling blessed by everybody continuing to do that for us. Exactly how I’m sitting here right now. Like, is this for real? I kept refreshing it, swiping up the page. Like, no way this is real right now. Words couldn’t even describe how I was feeling.”
