Mike Denbrock met with reporters on Tuesday to discuss the development of the new LSU offense, and the offensive coordinator said it’s about 30 percent installed. But because of mistakes in recent days, Denbrock stopped installation, and instead focused on effort and work ethic.

Denbrock also explained that his philosophy is that offensive linemen this time of year should learn multiple positions, and that explains the shifting lineups.

“We’re gonna evolve all summer,” he said. “We’re getting a picture of who we’re gonna be this fall. But we’ve juggled the offensive line, receivers a lot.”

Denbrock offered high praise for RB John Emery, and said, “He’s ultra talented. I think there’s a huge contribution coming from him in the fall.”

There doesn’t appear to be much traction on finding a clear-cut starting quarterback, and Denbrock said he and Brian Kelly have been in this situation before, and have used a 2 quarterback system in the past.

“But anybody will tell you if you have a clear winner, that’s the guy,” he said, and added about the QBs in general, “They’re kind of drinking through a firehose right now. We’ve thrown a lot at them.”

“I think I’m pleased with the fact that we have some healthy competition going on in that room,” he said. “We look to continue that in each position room.”
