Sam Pittman has produced a quick turnaround at Arkansas. Now, the head coach and the Razorbacks have reportedly reached a contract extension to keep Pittman in Fayetteville for the future.

After winning 3 games but being competitive during the 2020 season, Pittman and the Hogs exploded with 9 wins and an Outback Bowl victory vs. Penn State. The 2021 season included wins over Texas, Texas A&M, and LSU, along with a top-25 ranking on the final AP Poll.

Now, Pittman has reportedly landed a deal that will give him a raise with the Razorbacks. According to a report from Trey Biddy with HawgSports.com, details are expected to include a non-compete clause that will keep Pittman with the Razorbacks for the duration of his coaching career.

Word about the extension began to circulate during Saturday’s spring game at Arkansas. Pittman confirmed there is an agreement in place but the full details have yet to be revealed:

“Well, I’ve agreed to what they’ve offered. They agreed when I agreed. So, I don’t know what all that means. I agree. They agree. So, that means I guess we agree,” Pittman said. “Awesome. I will tell you this, it’s going to have a non-compete clause in it. That’s about all I’ll say about it. I’m glad it does. It allows us to recruit.

“There’s a lot of different things in recruiting, but one of them happens to be stability. They can fire me whenever they get good and ready to, but I can’t leave if that makes sense. Don’t want to anyway.”
