Josh Heupel fits in well as the Tennessee football coach in the rivalry with Florida, and he delivered a great reaction to the Tennessee baseball players wearing Florida football helmets.

Speaking on the “Josh and Swain” show on 99.1 The Sports Animal, Heupel was asked if he’d made a call to Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello after hearing about the incident. The Vols, of course, on Sunday celebrated the sweep of the Gators by wearing the helmets during a brief stop to shower at The Swamp on their way out of town.

“I hope they took a crayon and drew all over it, you know what I mean,” Heupel said. “Doesn’t matter to me, they can do whatever they want to, they walked away with a sweep. I’m so excited about what our baseball team’s doing. When it’s going well on a college campus athletically, your brand and your logo is in front of people 365 days out of the year. You look at what our basketball teams did during the winter months, and the exciting brand of play, both men’s and women’s. What our baseball team’s doing, it’s a great time to be at Tennessee, man. I’m excited and can’t wait to go see those guys play again here this weekend.”

It’s clear by now that not only will this topic resurface when the teams meet Sept. 24 in Knoxville, it could easily be talked about at SEC Media Days in July.
