The Alabama football experience at Bryant-Denny Stadium could include alcohol sales this season.

Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News reports that Levy Premium Foodservice LP, the stadium’s concessionaire, has applied for a liquor license. The hearing is set for next Tuesday, August 16.

If the application is approved and other necessary paperwork gets filed and approved, there could be alcohol sales at the stadium as soon as Sept. 3 when Alabama opens its season against Utah State.

Athletics director Greg Byrne said the school would reconsider alcohol sales at sporting events after the city dropped a service fee in June.

“With the recent expanded collaboration between The University of Alabama and City of Tuscaloosa we will continue our due diligence and revisit the opportunity for alcohol sales at select athletics events with our University leadership,” Byrne said to the Tuscaloosa News at the time.

If approvals are met along the regulatory process, this would mark the first time alcohol has been sold to the general public at Bryant-Denny Stadium or at any Alabama athletics event on campus.

About 6 months ago, Alabama ran into an issue with the City of Tuscaloosa over a service fee applied to tickets. It appears that the university and Tuscaloosa have resolved some of their issues, and this could add to the already festive environment in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
