Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea confirmed Wednesday that redshirt freshman edge defender Miles Capers will miss the entirety of the 2022 season.

Capers suffered a knee injury in practice on Tuesday and was widely considered to have locked up a starting spot prior to Wednesday.

Lea released he following statement following the development:

“”When our teammates hurt, we hurt, and we certainly hurt for Miles right now,” Lea said. “He has the full support of our program as he begins his journey back. Miles is part of the heartbeat of our program, and he will strengthen the team this fall through his presence and fighting spirt.”

Capers played just 4 games last season but is still considered to be the team’s top pass rusher heading into his 2nd season. He will likely be replaced by one of Michael Owusu or true freshmen Darren Agu and BJ Diakite.
