Former Missouri and current Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton might be set for a breakout season. Tiger fans already know what to expect from the hard-hitting middle linebacker after his time in Columbia, but do fans around the NFL know his potential?

During a segment on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” analyst Peter Schrager broke down the positives of Bolton’s rookie season in Kansas City. One of the biggest reasons for Scharger’s belief in Bolton entering Year 2 is his versatility to play both the run and make plays in coverage.

“He’s really good in coverage,” Schrager said. “He makes plays, is always ‘Jonny on the spot’ and this was just his first season. I think this season, Nick Bolton is going to come about and we’re going to be talking about this Chiefs’ defense a little more.”

Drafted 58th overall, Bolton started 12 games for Kansas City as a rookie and recorded 112 total tackles. He also tallied 11 tackles for loss, 3 pass deflections, and returned a 58-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos.

A native of Texas, Bolton committed to Missouri as a 3-star linebacker in 2018. During his 3 seasons with the Tigers, Bolton recorded 220 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 12 pass deflections 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions.
