The Florida Gators didn’t get the outcome they wanted in the 26-16 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, but that came after they knocked off No. 7-ranked Utah and outdid all preseason expectations at the start of the season.

And those who have paid attention have given credit where credit is due.

USF head coach Jeff Scott knows what he’s up against and specifically gave credit to Florida’s outstanding defensive line, which is sure to give the Bulls offense some trouble Saturday. Scott described the unit as “elite” and said it’s the best defensive line he’s faced in over two years at USF.

Florida’s defense was a big part of what kept it in the game in the loss to Kentucky as quarterback Anthony Richardson had some struggles, completing 14-of-35 passes for 143 yards with two interceptions, failing to score a touchdown through the air or on the ground.

Florida and USF are set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 17 in Gainesville, Florida.
