Few topics in sports spark quite as much debate as quarterbacks do, specifically in relation to where they stand and how they stack up.

Former Alabama quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts were topic of discussion for Kimberley Martin and company on “Get Up ESPN” and things quickly got heated. Martin is among those who have been impressed with what Tagovailoa has shown to this point.

“When you need big plays, he’s able to deliver,” Martin said. “Saying ‘we need to see more.’ Well, we need to see more from everybody. We need to see more from Patrick Mahomes… With Tua *Tagovailoa), we weren’t sure he could handle being a starting quarterback. We know that. We have the answer. He’s a very good quarterback.”

Others made it clear they needed to see more and watch Tagovailoa continue to play at a high level over a larger sample size of games.

It will be interesting to see how things continue to play out for both quarterbacks and if Tagovailoa can continue to hold his own when the Miami Dolphins face the Cincinnati Bengals at 7:15 p.m. CT in Thursday Night Football action.

Through three games this season, Tagovailoa has completed 71.3% of his passes for 925 yards with 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, with his lowest single-game completion percentage standing at a more-than-respectable 69.7% (vs. New England).
