Nick Saban and Will Anderson each noticed something was off before the game at Tennessee.

Saban said Monday that before kickoff, there was something different about the Alabama players. Saban said the idea is to have great energy, and be loose, but that wasn’t the case.

“I thought we were tight, especially starting the game,” Saban said. “Coming out of the locker room, our players always chant. They weren’t chanting. I said, ‘Why aren’t you guys chanting? What’s up with that?'”

Anderson agreed.

“Yeah, I think we just had a lot of anxiety… the intensity wasn’t where it needed to be,” he said.

Saban also added that Alabama must enjoy competing and not worry as much about the outcome.

“Not looking at the scoreboard, not worrying about results, not being fearful of what’s going to happen if something bad happens, or if we lose the game,” Saban said. “Just go play.”
